This briefing paper will explore the costs of an overall trade package for Africa as well as identifying the individual components of the very broad definition of aid for trade. What are the donors giving to aid for trade? How much of this assistance is tied to specific agreements and how much is addressing supply side constraints more generally? Are there some good stories of things that African governments have done that have improved the trade regime in their country? It will also provide an overview of existing research on aid for trade needs in Africa, efforts in Africa by donors and efforts by African countries and regions.
