Development in Nigeria (DIN) is the rural based
community action project of African Research Association (ARA).
ARA has been working on forest degradation and environmental
degradation in the tropical forests and savannah grassland areas
of Cross River State, Nigeria since 1996. ARA works to strengthen
community-based organizations for improved natural resources
management. In this context research by DIN in rural communities
over the years has been instrumental in showing a strong correlation
between poverty and forest degradation having serious impact
on forest-dependent livelihoods in Nigeria. |
