Update Meeting: Famine and the failure of development?

Update on ODI Special Meeting July 2002

A meeting to review current understanding and emerging lessons form the recent crisis in Southern Africa was held at DFID on 7 May 2003. Issues discussed included:

  • crisis update
  • humanitarian lessons
  • politics, governance and accountability issues
  • implications for growth and development
