The following UK-based individuals and institutions are contributing to the Forum for Food Security in Southern Africa:


Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is Britain's leading independent think-tank on international development and humanitarian issues. Their mission is to inspire and inform policy and practice which lead to the reduction of poverty, the alleviation of suffering and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in developing countries.Consortium members are from the Rural Policy and Environment Group (RPEG) and Poverty and Public Policy Group (PPPG) and Research and Policy in Development programme (RAPID).

RPEG seeks to support positive changes in livelihoods through focused policy research and through its networks for information dissemination and exchange. The mission of PPPG is to contribute through research, advice and communication to measures that work effectively towards the goal of eradicating poverty on a global scale. RAPID aims to improve the use of research in development policy and practice through improved knowledge about research-policy links; improved knowledge management and learning systems; improved communication; and improved awareness of the importance of research.

Renowned for pioneering groupings such as Environmental Sciences, Development Studies and World Art Studies. Wye, Department of Agricultural Sciences, Imperial College, London - The recent creation of a Department of Agricultural Sciences (from the former Wye College) provides a new and exciting holistic capacity for studying the natural science, management and economic disciplines relating to agriculture, food and the rural environment.

Southern Africa Regional Policy Network (SARPN) - The purpose of SARPN is to provide a facility for raising the level and quality of public debate on poverty across the Southern African Development Community - SADC. Richard Humphries - web alerts, policy networking

Food Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Network (FANRPAN) - A forum that brings together key stakeholders in food, agriculture, and natural resource sectors to productively discuss issues and identify solutions to problems confronting the region. FANRPAN works to improve and strengthen policy formulation, policy reform and monitoring policy impact.
