With a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of researchers, the Water Policy Programme has a broad skills base and wide regional-country knowledge.

Over the last five years, our researchers have worked with partners in South America, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Asia on issues as diverse as flood management, drought preparedness, sanitation policy, pro-poor drinking water provision, water rights, irrigation reform and aid effectiveness.

  • Sobona Mtisi is a Research Officer with a background in sociology, demography, and holds a PhD in International Development. He has over seven years research experience on water governance and policy processes and their implications on health and poverty in southern Africa, particularly Zimbabwe.

  • As a Research Associate, Peter Newborne is a part-time (self-employed) member of the ODI water team, carrying out research studies, programme evaluations and advisory assignments on water policy and environmental/social sustainability.

    Peter is a fluent French and Spanish speaker.
