The principal objective of this consultancy is to contribute to the development of an efficient and competitive CARICOM Single Market and Economy framework for commitments, market rules and disciplines regarding the energy, minerals and forestry sectors would be a historic milestone.

This project aims to work with southern think tanks to develop a framework that is intended to encourage G20 countries to implement coherent medium term policy frameworks to attain a mutually beneficial growth path and avoid future crises. This publication is not to replace ODI’s G20 development charter which is broader but to flag up issues / markers for the period until next G20 meeting in Seoul and in particular in relation to the G20 growth framework (and that it is unclear how non-G20 countries will liaise with G20) whose policy decisions will affect non-G20 countries.

The global financial crisis that emerged in the financial sector in developed countries has spread to the real sector in both developing and developing countries. ODI’s Investment and Growth Programme has conducted research on the global financial crisis since October 2008.

In a period in which aid (especially to Africa) is rising steadily, it is crucial to manage it efficiently. The main framework for aid management at country level in Africa are the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) processes, which is likely to play a crucial role in determining whether aid is used efficiently.
