Rachel specialises in social protection, food security and rural and agricultural development. She has particular expertise in sub Saharan Africa (especially Ethiopia, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa and Zambia) and South Asia.

Babken Babajanian specialises in social protection and social policy. His research interests include the development of social protection systems, international and comparative dimensions of social policy, poverty reduction strategies, social exclusion, governance and accountability, and decentralisation and community-driven development.

Richard works full time on the Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium, a DFID funded research programme exploring livelihoods, basic services and social protection in conflict-affected situations.

Dr Anna McCord is a Research Fellow in the Social Protection Programme. She is an economist with 20 years experience in international development from programme development and implementation at field level with NGOs, to work as a policy analyst and advocate, and for the last ten years as a research economist specialising in social protection programme design and evaluation.
