We are interdisciplinary team with backgrounds in anthropology, political science, history and development studies. By combining our skills and backgrounds we can offer high-quality research and policy advisory services to support analysis, advocacy and public policy formulation that seeks to target social exclusion and poverty alleviation. We also work with an extensive network of professionals engaged in childhood and gender analysis and policy research.

Nicola has a PhD in Political Science and is a Research Fellow in the Social Development Programme at ODI. She also heads a programme of research on knowledge, policy and power, and coordinates the institute's gender theme. She has a particular interest in social and poverty reduction policies, and their impact on gender and generational relations, and thus works closely with the ODI Social Protection Programme.

Fiona is a social anthropologist with over 15 years experience crossing the fields of public health and rural development in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She currently focuses on the linkages between health and HIV and AIDS, poverty, risk and vulnerability with a particular interest on livelihoods, food security, migration and access to services.
