Jon Mitchell Jon Mitchell
Head of ODI Tourism Programme
Jonathan is a local and regional economic development specialist with a multi-sectoral focus on Southern Africa. Institutional analysis, socio-economic impact studies and financial analysis are also key research interests. He has worked for a range of multilateral and bilateral donor organisations in Africa.

Since establishing ‘pro poor tourism' as a concept with DFID and the PPT Partnership in 1999, Caroline has pioneered pro poor tourism strategies internationally, while conducting detailed research on the role of the private sector and impacts on livelihoods, and producing good practice guidelines for the private sector.
David Harrison David Harrison
Research Associate
As a sociologist/anthropologist of development, David has researched the impacts of tourism in Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, the South Pacific, and South East Asia (notably Lao PDR, Cambodia and Viet Nam). He is also based at the International Institute for Tourism, Culture and Development at London Metropolitan University and has authored and edited several books on tourism as a tool for development in less developed countries.
