    BBC correspondent for South Sudan and Sudan, James Copnall, was guest speaker at a roundtable event hosted by the Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium (SLRC) and the Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG). This event brought together journalists, researchers and academics to explore the political, humanitarian and development issues faced by South Sudan at present.

    Since 2009, the Office of the Special Envoy for Haiti (OSE) has examined the nuts and bolts of how aid is delivered to Haiti. This report presents an analysis of how aid was channeled from donors to the primary recipient. Lilianne Fan of the Humanitarian Policy Group provided written contributions to this report.

    Advanced course on crisis, recovery and transitions - 2012

    The Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) at the Overseas Development Institute and the National Institute of Emergency Management at the Chinese Academy of Governance (NIEM-CAG) are partnering to offer the first ‘Advanced course on crisis, recovery and transitions’, a week-long programme targeting mid-career and senior professionals. The course is supported by the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) at the University of Canberra and by the Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit (PRDU) at the University of York.

Eleanor Davey (HPG) gave a presentation entitled "Why the humanitarian sector needs a historical consciousness: motivation, methodology and challenges" during a session chaired by Wendy Fenton (HPN). Wendy Fenton also chaired another session entitled "From local to global: making local agency count at the global policy level".
