At this ODI and BOND event we will be asking a panel of experts to consider how the politics of a post-2015 agreement might play out, and how it can be influenced to achieve the best outcome for poor people.

    Development Progress - exploring what works and why

    Projects - July 2011 to July 2015
    ODI's Development Progress aims to measure, understand and communicate where and how progress in development has happened. What are the latest methods we deploy to measure progress and why do they matter? What are the social, economic and political contexts that have facilitated and enabled progress in different countries? How do domestic and foreign resources contribute to financing progress? Building on phase one of this research - Development Progress: a library of stories - this four-year project explores these and other questions, with an aim to provide evidence for what’s worked and why over the past two decades.

    This case study on Liberia attempts to map and assess the policy system in Liberia today, taking into account how it has evolved over time. Grounded on a political-economy approach, it also seeks to provide a better understanding of the incentives and disincentives for reform and capacity building in the centre of government in Liberia, and draws some lessons and recommendations for donors. The study is based on field work carried out in Liberia in November 2010 over the course of one week to interview key country-based stakeholders, as well as telephone interviews with other stakeholders.

    This literature review sets out some key concepts and practical insights into what shapes the forms and functions of centres of government (CoGs), drawing on a (relatively narrow) body of literature looking at CoGs, while also drawing on a broader literature examining policy processes, political settlements and state-society relations.

The tents were provided by the Department for International Development (DFID) which deals with global relief and development on behalf of Her Majesty’s Government.

    This study will present an overview of human rights related challenges, risks, experiences, benefits, and lessons learned in relation to development in fragile and conflict-affected situations, to be used in a World Bank training resource center on human rights and possibly for the development of an associated e-learning module for Bank staff.

    Humanitarian Space in Afghanistan and Pakistan

    This event launches Issue 49 of the Humanitarian Exchange magazine from HPN, on the theme 'Humanitarian space in Afghanistan and Pakistan'.  Speakers will discuss issues related to humanitarian space in Afghanistan and Pakistan, drawing on their own extensive experience of analysis and operations in these environments.
