The humanitarian response the conflict in Syria has fundamentally failed to address the education crisis facing Syria’s children. This report proposes an international plan of action to deal with the refugee education crisis, of which Lebanon is on the front-line.
  2. Secessionists and sectarianism: Yemen’s more combustible security crises

    Opinion - Articles and blogs - 7 August 2013
With the evacuation of American and British government personnel from Yemen in recent days due to intercepts regarding imminent terrorist attacks by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, it would be logical to conclude that terrorism is Yemen’s greatest impediment to peace and stability. It is not. In fact, there are far more significant sources of conflict with a far greater potential for escalation and loss of life.

    Lisa Denney and Sarah Jenkins

Given the ambiguity surrounding its precise meaning, this paper maps the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ of community policing, setting out what it means and hopes to achieve, and how it manifests and is shaped by factors such as histories of state-society relations.

Publication - Research reports and studies - 15 July 2013
The inclusion of a peace and justice goal in the High-Level Panel’s post-2015 report is a welcome acknowledgement of the negative impact of insecurity and injustice on development progress.
