David Booth leads the Africa Power and Politics Programme (APPP), a five-year consortium research programme dedicated to "discovering institutions that work for poor people”. His other work focuses on the political economy of governance-improvement and aid in sub-Saharan Africa and, to a lesser extent, Latin America.
Lisa Denney is a Research Officer with an interest in security and development, peacebuilding in fragile states and informal governance practices. Her research and work experience has focused largely on Sierra Leone.
Claire joined ODI as the Programme Officer for Politics and Governance in January 2007. She has a BSc in Environmental Sciences and an MA in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia.
Daniel Harris is a political economist with an interest in sector level reform processes, delivery of public goods and services, taxation and sustainable and inclusive growth.
Alina is a Research Fellow in the Politics and Governance Programme with expertise on democratisation, lstate-society relations, institutions, and state-building.
Dr. Julia Tobias recently joined the Overseas Development Institute as a Research Fellow in Politics and Governance. She has expertise in the areas of social protection, poverty reduction and targeting, and the politics of public service delivery. Before joining ODI, she worked under the office of the Vice President of Indonesia supported by AusAID and led the design of Indonesia’s National Targeting System and Unified Database, which is now being used by the government to deliver social assistance benefits to 25 million poor and vulnerable households. Previously, she worked at the World Bank office in Jakarta. Her research has focused on the politics of cash transfers and other social protection programs, including the co-authored article Targeting the Poor: Evidence from a Field Experiment in Indonesia (American Economic Review, 2012). She holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University.
Joe joined the Politics and Governance team at ODI in August 2012. He is a graduate of Oxford University and the LSE with a background in statistical analysis, education policy and political economy.
Diana Cammack is an ODI Research Associate and a specialist in southern African politics.
