Agricultural Development and Policy - Our work
The Agricultural Development and Policy Programme works to promote understanding of transitions in food and agriculture, and appropriate policy responses. This is done with the aim of reducing hunger and poverty, and improving the sustainability of rural livelihoods in the face of increasing social, economic and physical shocks and stresses.
Agricultural and rural development
Understanding how agricultural and rural development can create jobs and livelihoods for small farmers and the landless, while producing food and raw materials for the urban economy.

Promoting more effective understanding of shocks, stresses and resilience in agriculture and rural livelihoods.
Land, Water and Agricultural Investment
Improving land and water governance to enhance security of access and the benefits to rural households and host countries from their use.
Climate-smart agriculture
Making agriculture better able to cope with increasing variability in climate and weather, and long-term climate change, supporting effective systems of carbon emissions reduction or carbon storage in agriculture.
