The Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure's
mission is to improve the quality of international development
assistance and to enhance the effectiveness of developing
countries’ public resource management. We undertake
research, professional advisory and evaluation work in 4 inter-linked
areas:
• Redesigning aid architecture and improving aid effectiveness
• Reforming public finance management
• Strengthening resource allocation and use at sector and local levels
• Improving national policy and planning processes
In addition, CAPE promotes discussion and research on core
questions of aid policy and aid management, including country
aid-management policies, mutual accountability, incentives
in aid agencies and the international institutional architecture
of aid. It carries out research in a political-economy perspective
on the reform of public finance management systems.
