Seeking a cure for Portal Proliferation Syndrome

Opinion - Articles and blogs - 8 June 2011

The symptoms are familiar.  You seem to hear about a new climate information portal or knowledge platform being launched every week.  You check it out and it seems impressive at first glance.  Nice graphics.  Promising headings. Ambitious objectives. Cool tools.

But as you click further you start to wonder.  How’s this different from that portal you heard about last week?

ODI Associate Geoff Barnard investigates Portal Proliferation Syndrome (PPS) in the climate and development arena, and reports on how CDKN is convening knowledge players to combat PPS.

Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN)

Projects - February 2010 to February 2015

The Climate Network will address shortcomings in the current knowledge base on climate change, with special emphasis on its implications for development and poverty reduction.  It will be a means of translating relevant and high quality knowledge and research into on-the-ground policy delivery on climate change and development.  It will do this by bringing together existing high quality and relevant research and information, and funding new priority research and analysis. Subject matter will include physical, natural, social, economic and political sciences.
