Seeking a cure for Portal Proliferation Syndrome

Opinion - Articles and blogs - 8 June 2011

The symptoms are familiar.  You seem to hear about a new climate information portal or knowledge platform being launched every week.  You check it out and it seems impressive at first glance.  Nice graphics.  Promising headings. Ambitious objectives. Cool tools.

But as you click further you start to wonder.  How’s this different from that portal you heard about last week?

ODI Associate Geoff Barnard investigates Portal Proliferation Syndrome (PPS) in the climate and development arena, and reports on how CDKN is convening knowledge players to combat PPS.

Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN)

Projects - February 2010 to February 2015

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) aims to help decision-makers in developing countries design and deliver climate compatible development. It does this by combining research, advisory services and knowledge-sharing in support of locally owned and managed policy processes. CDKN works in partnership with decision-makers in the public, private and non-governmental sectors nationally, regionally and globally. CDKN is managed by an alliance of organisations that brings together a wide range of expertise and experience: PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano, SouthSouthNorth, LEAD International, LEAD Pakistan and INTRAC.
