The Overseas Development Institute's Forests Environment and Climate Change programme seeks to inform the processes of policy change in tropical forestry in ways which improve the livelihoods and well-being of the forest-dependent poor, whilst also securing the long-term future of forest resources.

F, E & CC's work contributes to ODI's work on various key themes, including forestry, the environment and climate change, aid, gender and governance.

F, E & CC's current research centres on:

F, E & CC's main publication outputs are the Forestry Briefing series, which present objective information on important development issues and the VERIFOR Briefing Papers on aspects of verification systems in the forest sector.

F, E & CC's current flagship project is the VERIFOR project, a research and advisory project with the aim of providing practical support to decision-makers who are developing systems to verify that timber and forest products are legally harvested. For more information visit the VERIFOR website
