Dialogue on the future of aid for trade

The goal of this event is to bring together Geneva-based negotiators and officials, international trade experts, representatives from donor agencies, and key actors from beneficiary countries so that they can review where the Aid for Trade initiative currently stands. This exchange of experiences will help inform discussions being held in the lead-up to the next Aid for Trade Global Review in 2013. Jodie Keane and Jakob Engel will present findings from the ODI Working Paper 'Increasing the effectiveness of Aid for Trade: the circumstances under which it works best'.

Inter-agency social protection financing workshop 2012

Inter-agency social protection financing workshop 2012 is a follow up to the 2011 Financing Social Protection Conference. The workshop aims to i) share and review progress on work on the key issues relating to financing social protection identified at the 2011 conference, ii) identify priority issues for future research, and iii) agree a work-plan for financing social protection issues which we will together incorporate into a joint project proposal for donor funding.

ODI's joint project with Agriculture for Impact, Firetail and the Glasshouse Partnership'Leaping and Learning: Taking Agricultural Successes to Scale' has focused on providing development partners with access to independent, evidence-based recommendations that set out practical policy options and approaches for scaling up smallholder agricultural development in sub-Saharan Africa to ensure food and nutrition security and poverty reduction.

Disaster risk management in the post-2015 international policy landscape

Understanding the politics of service delivery

This event showcased some recent examples of political economy and governance analysis for service delivery, to identify some of the common challenges but also potential solutions for working towards more politically informed aid interventions. A particular focus was on what this means for NGOs and other intermediary organisations which play roles in funding and delivering basic services in developing countries.
