UK launch of ‘Ending the Everyday Emergency'

World Vision and Save the Children, in association with the Humanitarian Practice Network (HPN) and the Sahel Working Group, invite you to discuss the findings of "Ending the Everyday Emergency", a new report on the challenge of strengthening resilience in the Sahel. Wendy Fenton, HPN Coordinator will be chairing the event.

South Sudan: One year on

Measuring real impact

This workshop considered the different types of impact required within social and natural science research, humanitarian and development policy and practice, that is demanded when engaging with directly affected communities. The forum shared views from across those engaged in monitoring and evaluation of impact from across these different communities, considered how each considers ‘impact' and identified how best to develop indicators of shared relevance. Ajoy Datta provided insights from his recent work on the political economy of knowledge uptake.

Research, information and development: these truths we hold to be self evident...?

Event - Conference - 20 June 2012

This conference explored the state of the art of research communication and research uptake for development as they exist today, how the field might develop in the future and how we can improve our practice in the light of robust research evidence. Through presentations and participatory discussions participants will critically examine some commonly held ‘truths’ about research communication.

Ajoy Datta contributed to the session on the demand side and spoke to a truth that policymakers engage with arguments that are informed by interests, values and anecdotes and research as well as other forms of knowledge.
