Humanitarian Space: A review of trends and challenges

This series undertook a critical examination of the evolving dynamics and challenges related to different aspects of humanitarian space and associated trends of politicisation and securitisation of assistance. The meetings addressed a number of key questions and issues that have important implications for the nature and conditions of humanitarian action in contexts where humanitarian space is deemed to be restricted or contracting.

Agricultural futures in Africa

In partnership with the FAC, ODI is launching a new series of discussions about timely agriculture topics with key presentations by experts. Through this new series of seminars, FAC and ODI have teamed up to encourage dialogue and the sharing of good practice by policy makers and opinion formers on the role of agriculture in broad based growth.

Development, security and transitions in fragile states

hosted a meeting series to explore the causes of state fragility and the key challenges to peace building and state building processes. The series brought together a mix of senior researchers, practitioners and policy makers to discuss the opportunities and challenges for engaging in fragile situations in terms of approaches, tools and instruments.

Harnessing the power of business for development impact

What is the role of business in the current development landscape? While it is clear that the private sector drives the economic growth that is critical for development, there is less clarity on how this role is best played, particularly in the context of global financial crisis. This meeting series brought together company executives, practitioners, policy researchers, government and civil society to explore different approaches to private sector development.
