  • The Institute of Development Studies (IDS), the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) co-hosted a series of jointly hosted public meetings which examined current and future directions for research and policy in six key areas of development.

Work in various forms is being carried out on all six themes by all three institutes. One institute ‘led’ each meeting, providing a speaker who presented both on current institutional research in that area, and gave some thoughts for future directions.

This was followed by comments from discussants from each of the other two institutes, who responded with reference both to their own research, as well as their thoughts for the future.

There was also be a special meeting in the middle of the series, which celebrated the life and work of Professor Sir Hans Singer, and used his ideas to build a new conversation about the future of international development.
