Financing the cost of social protection

A conference of leading global experts working on the financing of social protection was convened by ODI on 26/7 May.

The objective of this conference was to promote dialogue between key research and policy agencies working on issues relating to the financing of social protection in Low Income Countries, and to contribute to effective policy responses to the challenge of the provision of large scale social protection provision in the 2010s in a rapidly changing political and economic climate.

Accelerating the transition out of fragility - the role of finance and public financial management reform

This is the sixth in a series of annual conferences on development finance and public financial management reform organised by the Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure at ODI.  The conference will focus on the practical and policy aspects of how to use finance to support fragile states in their transition out of fragility and the associated implications for public financial management. The conference is being organised jointly with the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department.

The impact of the global food, fuel, and financial crises and policy responses: A child-sensitive approach

Enabling growth and promoting equity in the global financial crisis

Event - Conference - 12 - 13 February 2009

The Overseas Development Institute aims to close the gap between two major themes in development thinking – poverty reduction and economic growth. To do so it has launched the new Growth and Equity Programme and hosted a two day conference on overcoming the barriers to equitable growth in the context of a global recession.
