In May 2012, Roger Calow (Head of ODI's Water Policy Programme, WPP) took part in a high-level panel discussion at Africa Water Week on progress in implementing integrated approaches to water resources management in Africa, drawing on WPP's recent contribution to the European Report on Development.
A conference of leading global experts working on the financing of social protection was convened by ODI on 26/7 May.
The objective of this conference was to promote dialogue between key research and policy agencies working on issues relating to the financing of social protection in Low Income Countries, and to contribute to effective policy responses to the challenge of the provision of large scale social protection provision in the 2010s in a rapidly changing political and economic climate.
This is the sixth in a series of annual conferences on development finance and public financial management reform organised by the Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure at ODI. The conference will focus on the practical and policy aspects of how to use finance to support fragile states in their transition out of fragility and the associated implications for public financial management. The conference is being organised jointly with the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department.
