Overseas Development Institute (ODI) and the
Impetus Private Equity Foundation.Shelagh Whitley will be presenting on behalf of the
ODI on the following question:
Can we map current support to and for social enterprises in emerging markets? This session will present the findings from pilot survey completed in May 2013 by ODI and supported by the Shell Foundation. ODI have developed a methodology to map the current landscape of support to social enterprises in emerging markets, including both direct support to enterprises and support to the market infrastructure in which they operate. We will discuss the frameworks developed as part of the research, initial findings, and if / how this work could be scaled up to provide an annual landscape of support.
Daniela Barone Soares, Director of the Impetus PEF would like to discuss how venture philanthropy has evolved in the last decade. As part of this topic, she will include a review of their VP model, how VP and social investment 'connect' (with examples from the Impetus portfolio), and a brief review about their merger.
