After 2015: new challenges in development

10 March - 30 April 2011
Details

This series will look at what we know about how progress has been achieved, and what are the key challenges that remain to be confronted.  These questions will become more urgent as we move towards the 2015 deadline for achievement of the MDG targets, and as policy makers begin to focus on how to maintain progress on the MDGs after that date.  This series will set the scene, by looking at what has been achieved, and at the key new challenges that we will have to confront to end poverty up to 2015 and beyond.

This meeting is at the inter-section of two ODI meeting series - on the post 2015 development framework, and on climate finance. The meeting will assess the extent to which achieving progress on poverty and deprivation can become an aspect of responses to climate change and of international climate finance, and if/how the post 2015 development framework needs to change in response to climate change.

Most of the world’s population now lives in cities.  While that is not yet true of the world’s poor, increasingly movements to cities, and the relationships between city and countryside, are a key part of the realities of poor people’s lives.
