Karen is Programme Leader of the Business and Development programme at ODI. She is an economist, focusing on the role of business in promoting growth, development, and poverty reduction in developing countries.
She is currently leading workstreams looking at:
how government policy affects the business environment, including industrial and competition policy and the relationship between government and big business;
how to create incentives for business to increase their contribution to development e.g. through ethical labelling or corporate reporting;
how to promote financial sector development and financial inclusion; and
how to stimulate low carbon growth in developing countries.
She has over twelve years’ experience in policy and research, having previously worked at DFID and HM Treasury, and in economic consultancy.
