Head of Communications (Interim), Communications

Nick focuses on ways digital tools can support the communications, research and management processes of think tanks. He developed ODI’s online communications strategy, awarded Online Strategy of the Year 2012 in the Digital Communications Awards. He is also the founder of WonkComms, a popular community of practice for think tank communications staff.

Nick has broad experience of all aspects of the marketing and communications mix and works across the organisation to communicate research, providing advice on strategic communications to a number of ODI's programmes.

Before ODI, Nick supported online projects at a range of organisations, including ODI, Guardian Unlimited (the UK’s largest and most internationally popular newspaper website), and The Metropolitan Police.

Climate Funds Update

Projects - May 2010 to April 2012
Climate Funds Update is a website that provides information on the growing number of international climate finance initiatives designed to help developing countries address the challenges of climate change. Through independent research the ODI keeps it current and details: Where these climate change funds are being developed; What the funds support; The scale of the proposed financing; How the funds are expected to be disbursed; and what had been achieved so far.

Global Development Network communications training workshop - Nairobi

Event - Workshop - 26 - 28 November 2009

Members of the central communications team and RAPID programme facilitated a workshop with participants from Global Development Network's research partners on methods to improve the communication of their work. Ajoy Datta presented the RAPID Outcome Mapping Approach to developing a policy influencing plan.

G-20 Chair's Review Consultation on the Future of International Finance Institutions

Projects - July 2009 to September 2009

This project delivered a consultation of civil society, research, academic, government and private sector organisations in Low Income Countries (LICs), on behalf of the UK Government. The consultation aimed to gather views on the following question: How can the World Bank and IMF improve their responsiveness and adaptability to better support Low Income Countries through global crises?

Development Knowledge Network: Roundtable 4 - Bratislava

Event - Round-table - 25 - 26 June 2009

The first day focused on climate change and its impact on developing countries, and key narratives in the debate in the run up to the Copenhagen climate summit. The second day focused on online communication strategies facilitated by Nick Scott.
