Assessing the potential effects on Zambia of an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the EU

Projects - January 2006 to December 2006
The EU has proposed signing free trade agreements with regional groups in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. This study looks at how such an agreement would affect Zambia, through changes in its exports, imports, tariff revenue, and costs of production. It examines the various ways in which such an agreement might be implemented and compares the possible outcomes to Zambia’s current trading relationships with the EU.

Improving Institutions for Pro-Poor Growth

Projects - September 2005 to August 2010
The task of the Programme is then to identify historically and comparatively those institutional sets and contexts that enhance pro-poor growth, and – recognizing that the history of the evolution of institutions in any society reflects the changing bargaining power of different social groups – to show how such patterns of institutional interaction change or may be helped to change.
