Joanna Fottrell

Jo manages ODI's editorial outputs, including the Institute's key publication series, two peer reviewed journals (Disasters and Development Policy Review), annual reports and other standalone publications. Working with colleagues in ODI's Communications team and external stakeholders, she coordinates the production of ODI resources from initial planning and drafting stages, through to copy-editing, design and layout, print and dissemination, and marketing.

Jo has worked across the communications mix, specialising in publications following postgraduate training at the London College of Printing. Prior to this Jo worked as Production Assistant at HarperCollins publishers, Content Manager at BMI airline, and Press Office Assistant at ITV plc and Carlton Television. Between 2008 and 2010, Jo worked part-time as Communications Officer for the Umeå Centre for Global Health Research, Sweden alongside her role as Production Coordinator at ODI.

Jo is an experienced copy-editor and production editor, having prepared texts and page spreads for academic articles, policy-oriented research papers and reports, corporate materials and content for the web.
