John Farrington

Senior Research Associate

With over 30 years of professional experience and over 100 publications, John is a rural development specialist focusing on policy design for livelihood protection and promotion. His earlier work includes livelihood diversification, institutional reform and the organisation and management of technical change with and for low-income farmers. Current interests include the interface between social protection and productive sectors, the role of cash transfers in social assistance and policy support for livelihood diversification.

Sustainable Livelihoods Conference

Projects - March 2010 to April 2010

Rebecca Holmes and John Farrington were commissioned by NR International on behalf of DFID to prepare two thematic papers on two themes (impact of poverty and vulnerability - respectively) for presentation at the 'Sustainable Livelihoods and Rural Development - Two Decades of Impact and Learning' conference being held in Delhi in April 2010. The regional conference is being organised by the Western Orissa Rural Livelihoods Project (WORLP), a DFID funded development project.
