Jane specialises in the analysis of trade and related statistical data in order to support studies of trade policy. She has undertaken research for a wide range of clients, including the UK Department for International Development, the EU Commission, the European Parliament, the Netherlands Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Development Assistance, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the South African National Treasury and Department of Trade and Industry, the Andean Group Secretariat, the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery, and the governments of Colombia, Mauritius, Moldova and Ukraine.

Private sector-led integration and free trade agreements in South Asia

Projects - January 2011 to August 2011
ADB plans to launch a multi-year program (from mid-2011 to mid-2015) to tackle nontariff barriers (NTBs) in South Asia with specific reference to least developed countries (LDCs) and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The program is made up of three components: (i) NTB surveillance and monitoring, (ii) upgrading and conforming to technical standards, and (iii) NTB resolution mechanism. This project will prepare a feasibility study that identifies the scope of the program and these three components.

Impediments to intra-regional trade in sub-Saharan Africa

This analysis sets out to explore the extent to which intra-regional trade flows for African regional economic communities (RECs) are constrained by non-tariff barriers (NTBs). Based on the results of a quantitative assessment of the identified impacts of NTBs on intra-regional trade, the report suggests policy measures and steps towards addressing them.
