Nella Canales Trujillo

Research Officer, Climate and Environment

Nella Canales has experience as a development practitioner both with national and civil society organisations. Nella has a background in economics and recently completed a Masters in Climate Change and Development at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and the University of Sussex. Prior to joining ODI, Nella worked for CARE Peru as a Climate Change and Policy Advisor. During her time in CARE, Nella was responsible for giving technical assistance on adaptation into the organisation's programming and led CARE Peru's climate change strategy. Nella also worked with Peru's National Environmental Fund (FONAM), as an Environmental Economist, with Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects.

National workshop on a climate change financing mechanism, Bagamoyo, Tanzania

Event - Workshop - 15 - 18 October 2012

This workshop aimed to build national understanding on climate change financing, recognising that climate change represents a new challenge for the Government of Tanzania. Developing a national response is needed urgently, and will require action by Government, Tanzanian society more broadly, and the country’s international development partners. Neil Bird made three presentations that reflected on experiences in other countries, the availability of global climate funds for Tanzania, and the options for a national climate finance mechanism.
