Research Officer, Development Progress

Amanda’s interests include rights-based approaches to development, rural livelihoods, and the measurement of multidimensional poverty and inequality. Amanda is working with ODI’s Development Progress, a project that aims to better understand what works in development and why.

Prior to joining Development Progress Amanda worked with the Chronic Poverty Advisory Network at ODI researching policies that have been effective in addressing severe and chronic poverty with a particular focus on agricultural policies and progress in reducing chronic poverty in middle income countries. Amanda has a background in integrated approaches to social and economic development through her PhD research on agricultural marketing through social networks in Indonesia. She has also worked on projects related to urban refugees’ livelihoods strategies, health service delivery in remote areas, and sustainability education.

The role of the Chronic Poverty Advisory Network (CPAN) is to increase awareness of chronic poverty, ensuring that chronically poor people are not forgotten by policy makers, and to use evidence to improve the effectiveness of policies and programmes at reducing chronic poverty.
