Emily Brickell

Research Officer, Climate and Environment

Emily is a Senior Research Officer on REDD+ and land use. She has a background in international and national REDD+ policy frameworks, and is interested in how the drivers of deforestation can be addressed to tackle forest loss and contribute to development.

Her research interests include: understanding how policies across different sectors drive deforestation, how cross-sectoral coordination can be strengthened to address these drivers, and what trade-offs need to be made; understanding the role of forests in climate-compatible development, including how efforts to curb emissions from deforestation can help catalyse alternative development pathways; and understanding the social impacts of approaches to tackle forest loss.

Emily previously worked with WWF, focussed on international climate negotiations on REDD+ and supporting partners to influence national REDD+ policies in Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Papua New Guinea.
