A
six month project to help FAO develop a proposal for a strategic
programme for information in support of sustainable livelihoods
through relevant policies, institutions and processes. The preparatory
project included discussions with staff in DFID and FAO, a desk
study of relevant literature and web sites and field trips to India,
Uganda and Ghana. In the end, DFID decided not to fund the proposed
project, although a summary of the results were presented during
FAOs 2nd Consultation on Agricultural Information
Management in September 2002, and were reformatted for a wider
audience on the FAO
web site. The full results were also published as an annotated
bibliography in November 2003.
