Beyond, A Stakeholder Conference from
the DSA and BOND in association with NR International and ODI
This one day conference was held on June 3rd at the Brunei Gallery,
School of Oriental and African, Studies, from 9.30am to 5.30pm.
Keynote Speaker was Professor Gordon Conway, Chief Scientific Adviser,
DFID, who provided participants with the benefit of his many years
experience at the Research / Practice interface. Other speakers

for the plenary session entitled 'Aim
for the bulls eye: How to maximise the impact of development research'
(powerpoint 1.5mb).
The conference was conceived as a forum for exploring the reality
of the links between research and practice. It aimed not only to
identify problems at the interface between the two, but also to
propose action points for the next six months to a year, which will
be followed up by BOND and the DSA. The conference was attended
by 165 researchers, practitioners and policy people and it was an
opportunity both to develop ideas and action points as well as to
take part in strategic networking.
RAPID held a workshop session on Turning
Insight into Impact. John Young and Julius Court gave a presentation
to the workshop on 'Turning
Insight into Impact: Approaches and Tools' (powerpoint
1.3mb).
