ODI Civil Society Partnerships Programme Partners Meeting 13th-15th November 2006

The CSPP Partners Meeting held in London in November 2006 provided an opportunity for 20 CSPP partners from around the world to discuss progress and the future of the programme. The Partners Meeting overlapped with a meeting for high-level Programme Advisors who include the heads of three of the partner organisations, and was followed by a two day research-policy symposium in Oxford organised in collaboration with INASP. There was a general feeling among participants that the network is now becoming more cohesive and this meeting provided a useful forum for partners to come together for more substantial work and discussions.

This was the second CSPP Partners Meeting. The first, which was held in London in November 2005 involved 17 participants from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The key conclusions from the first meeting were that there is a growing demand for research-based-evidence to inform development policy processes and from TTs, PRIs, and some NGOs for support to develop the capacity to meet this demand, and that the focus of the next phase of the programme should be to develop a network of like-minded organisations (including these 17) to do this. A number of more specific recommendations were made which were incorporated into the plans for Phase II.
