ODI and BOND ran a one-day training workshop on 9th June 2005 at ODI for BOND member organiations, aimed at providing tools and techniques to use knowledge management tools in ongoing work programmes. The session was geared around the information management end of the KM spectrum. The session was a mixture of practical tools and presentations by the workshop facilitator, Ben Ramalingam of the RAPID team.

In the morning, a brief presentation led to discussion of the Self Assessment exercise sent to participants prior to the workshop. The results were presented to participants, and a story telling session was utilised to share experiences and distil the key lessons. This was followed by individual work to address participant's individual information strategies. The principles of building a knowledge asset were presented in the final session of the morning. After the lunch break, the participants were divided into groups of three to apply the knowledge asset principles to three hypothetical knowledge assets. The results of the session were presented back to the groups. The session ended with a presentation and discussion on the knowledge strategies framework and outcome mapping, with some discussion about ideal means of monitoring and evaluating information work. This was followed by an after action review of the day.
