Ursula Grant
Ursula Grant is the Managing Editor for the Chronic Poverty Report, 2007-08 (Escaping Chronic Poverty) . This has involved both driving the content of the report as well as managing a two year programme of background research. She wrote a series of papers as part of this background (on the treatment of poverty dynamics in PRSPs; exclusion, exploitation and chronic poverty in urban economic growth; unpacking pro-poor est economic growth, and the intra-household dynamics of health and chronic poverty). Ursula joined the Chronic Poverty Research Centre in 2003 and co-wrote The Chronic Poverty Report 2004-05, which defined, located, and identified the socio-economic and political causes of poverty differentiation in developing countries.
Before joining ODI, Ursula spent 4 years as a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham 's International Development Department. Here she worked on urban governance and urban poverty, as well as providing considerable direct research support to DFIDs Governance Department on topics ranging from exclusion and justice to service delivery and public expenditure.
Ursula spent a number of years working in Kingston , Jamaica , on poverty and urban violence programmes, and with the UNDP to conduct participatory poverty assessments in Tanzania .
